I’m Nicholas Grifa, a Composer and Sound Designer from Melbourne, Australia working professionally since 2019. I specialise in creating original compositions and detail oriented sound design to tell stories.
From an early age I’ve had an obsession with music and films. My passion for working in audio comes from a desire to create art that comes together on screen. To me, communicating raw emotion through music and sound is the difference in what can make a project truly memorable.
After receiving my Bachelor of Audio Engineering from the JMC Academy, I have dedicated the past 8 years to working on short films, documentaries, brand campaigns and commercials for social media and TV. I work closely with directors, producers and creative agencies to ensure that the music and sound design exceeds the brief and is an engaging experience for the audience.
While my expertise is primarily creating the music and sound design, I capture the sound for most of the projects I work on. By doing sound capture and my post production work I have gained a deep understanding of what it takes to get a project started and to finish it.
Film is a collaborative medium with audio being an extension of that. Through my experience I believe strong collaboration leads to the best possible art being made. I strive for great collaboration because working with great people on great films is the dream.
